Oculus Rift Presentation @ HackLab.TO – May 5th, 2015
With the previous success of the Oculus Rift presentation to draw in members of the public to check out an Oculus Rift Demo, and have a chance to tour the HackLab, it was decided a repeat performance would be of value. The key focus for this next project was to show not only the Oculus Rift DK2, but also to combine in the Leap Motion to provided a natural input experience for Virtual Reality.
The audience was astounded. They enjoyed the ease of use of the leap motion experience, and had a great time in two powerful demos with the Leap Motion. The two demos Weightless, and Aboard the Looking Glass, both showed off interested elements of hand interaction. In the case of Weightless the demo focused on using the hands as a form of locomotion, as well as direction hand interaction to manipulate objects. In Aboard the Looking Glass, your hands are used almost like secret decoders, the left hand which is like a blue film shows and allows you to interact with the past, while the right hand with a red film shows and provides interaction with the future.
Even without the media coverage at this particular event we still got in 42 demos to the audience, while they had time to also tour and explore the HackLab space.
